state schools provide religious instruction in accordance with Chapter 5 of the
Education (General Provisions) Act 2006
(EGPA) and Part 5 of the Education
(General Provisions) Regulations 2006 (EGPR) by making available up to one
hour per week for the provision of religious instruction to students (except
Prep students) who are members of a
faith group that has approval to deliver religious instruction at the school.
Primary School, each class (Year 1 to Year 6) has access to a half hour
period of instruction per week. All students (except Prep students) are placed
in either religious instruction or other instruction in accordance with
information provided on their Application for Student enrolment, unless
parents/guardians have provided the school with other written instructions.
In 2017, Mansfield
State School will offer religious instruction for the following religions:
- An ecumenical programs based on material from the
Religious Education Curriculum project, using the Connect program
Students who are
not involved in one of the programs listed will be provided with ‘Other
Instruction’ in a separate location to the religious instruction delivery.
‘Other Instruction’ may include activities that are part of a subject area that
has already be covered in a student’s class, for example: homework tasks;
personal research and/or assignments; revision of class work and wider reading;
or other activities.
